Why prototype in cast urethane
Cast urethane tooling is cheap and fast, which makes it the ideal way to test an idea. A single prototype mold lets you pour the same geometry in several hardnesses, try an insert, or check fit on the vehicle before anyone commits to production tooling.
Titan Works has poured single parts for a racing program, sample sets for aftermarket product launches, and bridge quantities that kept a customer shipping while their production tool was machined.
Low-volume programs
Some parts will never be high volume, and that is fine. Specialty vehicles, restoration parts, industrial machinery, and small aftermarket lines often need a few hundred pieces a year. The large casters do not want that work. We do, and we price it so it makes sense for both sides.
What a typical prototype project looks like
- You send a print, model, or sample and describe what the part does.
- We recommend a hardness and formulation and quote the tool and first articles.
- Prototype tooling is made from a pattern.
- First articles are poured, cured, inspected, and shipped, usually within two weeks of tool approval.
- You test. We adjust hardness or geometry if needed.
- When the part is proven, the same print moves straight to production tooling.
Re-sourcing a dropped part
A common low-volume request: a supplier has closed or dropped a part, and the buyer has a sample and a purchase history but no tooling. We can reverse-engineer from the sample, match the hardness, build a tool, and have you shipping again. See re-sourcing a discontinued part for how that works.
